Black n' White Sunday: Bending the Rules

Happy Sunday Everyone!
Mom and Dad are still on vacation with Flat Spencer, which means I'm hanging out with Aunt Zim. I'm excited to see my humans but sure enjoy bending the rules while they are gone! My favorite rule to bend is hanging out on the couch with Aunt Zim. I mean, someone has to help her study and I'm the right dog for the job.

Can't wait to hear all about their trip and share with you the adventures of Flat Spencer. Check out my Facebook page where you can see pictures of Flat Spencer throughout their trip. I'm keeping my paws crossed that they bring me home a neat souvenir.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

WW: I have a Flea and a Tick

I have a problem, mom found me last night with a flea and a tick on me. But don't worry they were the soft, squeaky kind of bugs.

Mom and Dad will be heading down to Georgia starting tomorrow to see my grandparents. They are leaving me behind in the care of Aunt Zim. So if you don't see me for awhile it's because my parents abandoned me for a week. But, will be back soon!

Happy Fall!

Happy First Day of Fall!
This is my favorite time of the year, not only is the weather perfect, the bugs are almost gone, and Halloween is right around the corner.

Yesterday my mom went to Grandma's house and look at what she came home with....Applesauce!

Mom said this is a human treat and that I'm already too sweet to have this yummy, sweet treat!

Does your dog like applesauce?

Fit Friday: Fly Ball and Lure Course

In the last two weeks I have learned about two different sports for dogs, flyball and lure coursing. I have never seen or heard about these events before, but I have now witnessed flyball and was able to try out lure coursing myself.

The first one is Flyball. Here is the definition according to Wikipedia: Flyball is a dog spot in which teams of dogs race against each other from a start/finish line, over a line of hurdles, to a box that releases a tennis ball to be caught when the dog presses the spring-loaded pad, then back to their handlers while carrying the ball. Check out this video from the event we watched at the Renaissance Festival:

This past weekend at the Ragom fund raising event they had a lure course for us to try out. And of course I was going to try it.

Lure coursing is a sport for dog that involves chasing a mechanically operated lure around a set course. That day to the grass was long, which made it hard to see. After I got the swing of things I had a blast. Check out this video of my trying out lure coursing.

These two sporting events definitely would help keep us K9s in tip top shape. I would encourage everyone to try either event out. Fly ball does take some practice but lure coursing takes little to no practice.

Mischief Monday: GOLDZILLA

Imagine going to a fundraising event for an organization that rescues Golden Retrievers and Golden Mixes. What would you expect to see? That's right, lots and lots of golden fur that have been saved through the years!

As most of you know Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota or RAGOM is the rescue organization that rescued my mom from a puppy mill and when she was placed in foster care they found out she was pregnant with my 8 litter mats and myself.

As the county's number 1 Golden Retriever rescue group, RAGOM  has rescued and re-homed over 6,000 Golden Retrievers and Golden Mixes. This organizations is based in Minnesota, but they have rescued dogs in North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, and more.

I was so excited to attend this event with my pal, Carlie, another RAGOM rescue and my grandparents sweet puppy. More on this event this week!

Thoughtless Thursday: Party Decorations

What would a party be without decorations and let me tell you, my mom went all out!

We started with a color scheme (red, blue, green and orange) and went from there.

I already had the "Spencer" banner, which is great to be able to reuse props. A little DIY project that involved using a Cricut machine and a wonderful "Happy Blogiversary" banner was born.

Next, you have to be dressed for the occasion. Again, following the color scheme, I found this handsome bow tie at Target and this party hat on Etsy

What does every great dog party need, that's right, a fire hydrant. Even though it is made out of paper, it still adds that extra something.

My favorite is this DIY fabric banner. My mom went to our local fabric store and picked out a yard of five different fabrics, one pattern and solid colors. Can you guess which colors???

Once home we cut the fabric into one inch wide by twelve inches long strips. We did this until we ran out of fabric. Then we tired the fabric onto a long piece of twine in a pattern. We ended up making two banners, each about four feet long.

Finally, every good party needs balloons. The best part was using a bottle of peanut butter as the weight of the balloons.

I would love to hear from you, what is your favorite decoration, either from my party or at your own parties?

There will only be one winner announced for this Blogiversary giveaway. The winner will be randomly chosen by Rafflecopter. The winner will be contacted via email. This giveaway is open for US residents only who are 18 years of ago or older. All prizes have been donated no other compensation was given for any reviews, publicity, or write ups.

Tasty Tuesday: PupCakes and Ice Cream Treats

What is a party without yummy food. Here are two easy recipes to do for your next doggie celebration.

My first tasty treat is called PupCakes. These mouth watering treats are simple and the best part about this treat, we already had all the ingredients in our kitchen.

After the PupCakes were done cooling we added some peanut butter frosting. Then topped them off with a Zuke's Jerky treat. My mouth is watering them just looking at this picture.

You can't have cake without ice cream. My handy bone and paw print molds came in handy with this recipe. But, a simple dixie cup or ice cube tray will do the trick as well.

My mom should have added 4 ripe bananas, 3 for the recipe and 1 for me to enjoy as I watched her make these treats! What more could a dog ask for then bananas, peanut butter, and yogurt all in one.

And finally, while we were at the Renaissance Festival yesterday we stopped at "Royal Paws" and picked up these tasty treats. Yes, that is a mini pizza. Unfortunately, they only sell at festivals and not online, otherwise we would be placing weekly orders.

And there you have it fokes! Yummy, mouth watering treats your dog would love to have.

Don't forget to check back all week for more Blogiversary fun! There is a giveaway happening on my Facebook page and my blog! Make sure you enter daily for your chance to win some amazing prizes!
