PupCrate December 2015 Edition

I'm excited to share with you the Pupcrate's December 2015 Edition. First, let me explain what PupCrate is and how it works.
PupCrate is a new subscription dog box. Each monthly PupCrate box contains 4-5 treats (USA made), toys and other pet products that have been hand selected by PupCrate. Each month is sourced extremely carefully from trusted suppliers and each item is unique from anything they will send in a later box.

PupCrate is even great for dogs with allergies. Every PupCrate is wheat, corn and soy free.

Here is how it works:

1) Choose Dog Size:
  • Small (0-20lbs)
  • Medium (20-50lbs)
  • Large (50+lbs)
2) Choose Toy Preference
  • Plush Toys (soft and squishy)
  • Chew Toys (durable and chewy)
  • Or Mix of Plush and Chew
3) Choose A Term
  • Month to Month - $29.95
  • 3 Month Prepay - $85.95
  • 12 Month Prepay - $330.95

Now, lets take a closer look at the goodies in the Decembers Edition of the PupCrate:
  • Tuff Ones Tree
    • Durable holiday tree with strong seams by Outward Hounds.
  • Tuff Ones Candy Cane
    • Durable holiday candy cane with strong seams by Outward Hounds.
  • My Doggy Soft-Baked Cookies
    • Terrific all natural cookies your dog will absolutely love! Gluten Free!
  • 2x Bare Bites
    • Two bags of 100% natural beef liver, no additives.
  • Preppy Puppy Uniced Tree
    • A Special holiday treat from a local bakery in Massachusetts. Gluten Free!
  • Roll of Earth Rated Poop Bags
    • My favorite part of this box subscription! You can never have too many poop bags! Right?

I have a confession and acceptance is the first step, I've heard. I am tough on my toys. I don't rip them to piece. Instead, I have some OCD tendency and play with them until the fall apart or until my humans take them away. I have been playing with these two toys for a week straight, sleeping with them, taking them outside with me, and even playing fetch with them. Guess what??? They are both still in one piece and there isn't any holes in them! They have been Spencer tested and my humans approve! They really are Tuff!

Look Who's Happy! Tempt 'n Tenders Review

Welcome and Happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing with you Look Who's Happy! Tempt 'n Tenders Chicken with Pumpkin Recipe. Ever since I've learned about this company I have fallen in love with their philosophy:
If there's one thing all dogs should have in common, it's that they should be happy!

As you can see in the photo above, I'm having a hard time keeping it together. Why you ask, because this treat is:
  • Made with cage free poultry raised in the USA and USDA-Inspected
  • Grain and Gluten Free
  • No by-products, hormones, artificial preservatives, flavors or colors
  • Naturally raised meats providing high quality protein
  • Garden vegetables picked at the peak of ripeness
  • Slow cooked for terrific taste
These treats are made right here in the USA on their family owned plant. The ingredients include:
  • Chicken
  • Pumpkin
  • Cane Molasses
  • Sea Salt
  • Citric Acid
  • Mixed Tocopherols
    • Source of Vitamin E
These treats are about 4 inches long and come in a 4 ounce resealable bag locking in the moister and flavor. They sell for about $7.99.

I had all I could do not to jump into my mom's ares and take this treat from her. But, with a little self restraint I waited patiently. And let me tell you, it was definitely worth the wait. Not only are these treats great for big dogs, but you can easily brake them into smaller pieces for smaller dogs as well.

I highly recommend this treat to all my four legged pals out there.

Pamper Your Pet at PetSmart #PetSmartGrooming

The time had finally come and I needed to get spruced up for the coming holiday season. So that means a date with the groomer.

This post is sponsored by PetSmart and the BlogPaws Professional Pet Blogger Network. I am being compensated for helping spread the word about PetSmart Grooming Salons, but Spencer the Goldendoodle only shares information we feel is relevant to our readers. Booking an Appointment

I decided to check out the PetSmart® Grooming salon, but needed moms help to schedule the appointment. While my mom was on the phone she learned that you can actually book you appointment online with your favorite groomer. Also you can get text alerts or emails notifying you when your pet is ready to be picked up.

Different Packages

PetSmart has several different packages to choose from, mom scheduled me for one of their Base Package: Dog Bath with Haircut and included an Add-On Package: Top Dog.

The Dog Bath with Haircut (perfect for dogs who need a bath plus a haircut) includes:
  • Oxygen-infused bath
  • Shampoo washing and blow dry
  • 15 minutes or more of brushing
  • Dematting and haircut
  • Nail trim
  • Ear cleaning, hair removal and flushing (if needed)
  • Scissoring feet and pad shaving
  • Sanitary trim
  • Anal gland cleaning
The Top Dog includes:
  • Choice of premium shampoo
  • Milk bath conditioner
  • Scented cologne spritz
  • Teeth brushing and breath freshener
  • Bandana or bow
Reminders Before Your Appointment
  • All pets need current rabies vaccinations and proof of vaccination from their vet. I was able to have my vet fax my vaccination to PetSmart.
  • Rabies Vaccination needs to be administered 48 hours prior to service.
  • They do not perform services on pets 8 weeks or younger.
  • Customers cannot go behind the double doors separating the Salon lobby from the grooming area. This is for the safety of their pets and associates.

Consultation

When we arrived we met my groomer, Leslie Jean. She immediately came over to me and started petting me. She asked my mom several question:

  • "How do you prefer his hair cut?"
  • "Does he have any allergies?"
  • "When was the last time flea or tick medication has been applied?"
Leslie Jean then started feeling me for any mats, bumps or skin issues, she also checked out my nails, teeth, and ears. She explained to my mom that she would be bringing me in the back where she would be giving me my bath, trimming my nails, brushing my teeth and cleaning my ears, if needed.

My mom then handed the leash over to Leslie Jean and she was off to do some shopping while I was getting pampered.

Education
I was surprised to learn about all the education PetSmart requires:
*Salon associates acquire annual safety certification and take additional course-work where they learn about dog anatomy, signs of stress and common pet medical conditions.

*Groomers (those that give haircuts) receive an additional 400 hours of hands-on training.

Another feature that both my mom and I loved is the viewing window into the store from the salon. It was fun watching all the customers shopping for their pet. With my separation anxiety it was difficult for my mom to watch me in the salon. Having the window for my mom to "spy" on me through the store sheaves was great.

Pawgress Report Card

Finally, I was done. Leslie Jean presented mom with a Pawgress Report card that noted what she found while grooming me. The different areas that she was able to report on was: skin, coat, ears, nails, teeth, and anal glands. This was a great tool the groomers use to make sure the relay any and all important info on to the owners.

She did an amazing job taking good care of me and cutting my coat to my mom's standards. Check out my before and after shots, I look like a new dog who can finally see again.

Accessories

My mom's favorite part was picking out my new bandana and charm. What do you think, am I ready for fall???

Guarantee

Finally, PetSmart Salons offer a "Look Great Guarantee," which is their promise that you'll be happy with your pet's service, or they will do whatever it takes to make it right - including offering your money back.
